David Munyon – A Gentle Soul

So here’s another one of those obscure artists. He sings songs about cars, AID’s victims, lost souls and buddhism with a voice that sounds like it has been lived in, trashed and then burnt out.

If the above sounds like it may put you off please don’t let it. This guy is the real deal and sings his songs with an honesty and conviction that is captivating.

His albums range from full band efforts to just David on his acoustic guitar. His albums are difficult to come by as he is signed to a German record label (Stockfish records) and his albums are usually available only as imports. In these days of the internet and worldwide shopping this shouldn’t really be seen as a barrier.

Best album to get acquainted? Acrylic Tepees. Again this is another of those singers first heard on Bob Harris’s late night Radio 2 show a few years ago. Desperate For A Friend, Superblue and Angel With a Busted Wing are the true standout tracks.
